Cervical Cancer Treatment at World's Best Cancer Hospitals in India Cervical cancer is the malignancy that starts in the cervix. Cervical cancer instigate from the cells located on the surface of the cervix. Cervical cancer occurs in several forms. The most common is squamous cell carcinoma, which accounts for 85 to 90 percent of cervical cancers. Other forms include adenocarcinomas and combination cancers such as adenosquamous carcinoma. Some strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a virus transmitted during sex, play a role in causing most cases of cervical cancer. The type of cervical cancer is determined by the type of cell where the early genetic mutation occurred. The type also helps in determining the specific treatment for a patient. There are two main types of cervical cancer that include – Adenocarcinomas: This type takes place in the glandular cells lining the cervical canal. Adenocarcinomas accounts for a smaller portion of all cervical cancers. Squamous Cell Carcinomas: This type starts in the flat and thin cells lining the bottom of the cervix. Squamous cell carcinomas make up for a large majority of cervical cancers. Abnormal cervical cell changes rarely cause symptoms. But you may have symptoms if those cell changes grow into cervical cancer. Symptoms of cervical cancer may include: Bleeding from the vagina that is not normal or a change in your menstrual cycle. Bleeding when something comes in contact with your cervix, such as during sex Pain during sex Vaginal discharge that is tinged with blood Leakage of urine or feces from vagina Swelling in legs. Loss of weight. Diagnosis of Cervical Cancer The role of the Pap smear is to screen for cervical cancers and cervical pre-cancers. In its early stages, cervical cancer usually has no symptoms. Pap smear : In this test, Gyneconcologist collects cells from the cervix during a vaginal exam to look for abnormal, or precancerous, changes in the lining of the cervix Colposcopy : If the Pap smear results are abnormal, Gyneconcologist may check the cervix using a magnifying lens (colposcopy) and collects and examines cells (biopsy) to determine whether cancer is present. Some other tests are also ordered when cervical cancer is diagnosed. The spread of the cancer can be easily determined with the help of these tests. The different tests include MRI of the pelvis Chest x-ray Intravenous pyelogram (IVP) CT scan of the pelvis MRI of the pelvis Cervical Cancer Treatment Options in India Removal or destruction of cancerous cells is done through surgery. Different types of surgeries done for early cervical cancer are Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP): In this electricity is used to eliminate abnormal tissues. Cryotherapy: The abnormal cells are made to freeze in this therapy Laser therapy: Malignant cells are burnt with the help of light. Radical hysterectomy: It includes removal of the uterus and other surrounding tissues including lymph nodes and upper part of the vagina. Chemotherapy : Chemotherapy uses anti-cancer drugs given intravenously or by mouth to destroy cancerous cells. Doctors prescribe higher doses of chemotherapy when the cancer has spread beyond the tumor or if the cancer returns after initial treatment. Studies show that low-dose chemotherapy, when combined with radiation therapy, improves survival rates in women who have advanced cervical cancer. Radiation therapy : High-powered energy is used in this therapy for destroying cancer cells. Radiation therapy when given internally is performed by placing devices filled with radioactive material around the cervix. External beam radiation is given when radiation therapy is performed externally. These methods can also be combined together. Chemotherapy is also sometimes combined with radiation therapy for destroying or shrinking a tumor that is still remaining after surgery. Menstruating may stop in premenopausal women due to radiation therapy and may start menopause. Reconstructive surgery : Gyneconcologist and a plastic surgeon work together to restore as much anatomy and function as possible through reconstructive surgery. This teamwork is especially important in radical cancer surgery that includes surgical reconstruction as part of the treatment plan.

Cervical Discectomy Cervical Discectomy Cervical discectomy is surgery to remove one or more discs from the neck. The disc is the pad that separates the neck vertebrae; ectomy means to take out. Usually a discectomy is combined with a fusion of the two vertebrae that are separated by the disc. In some cases, this procedure is done without a fusion. A cervical discectomy without a fusion may be suggested for younger patients between 20 and 45 years old who have symptoms due to a herniated disc. Different Approaches to treat Cervical Discectomy Spine Problem Anterior Approach The anterior approach allows the surgeon to have direct access to the degenerated disc without having to manipulate any nerve roots. Better correction of the collapsed disc to its native height can also be achieved by having a better leverage point to open the disc space. This can also help in restoring lordosis to the lumbar spine and to decrease fatigue of the surrounding posterior spinal muscles. No anterior or posterior muscle dissection is required to gain access to the front of the spine (unless the anterior approach is done in combination with a posterior approach for instrumentation). Avoiding injury to the recurrent laryngeal nerve (especially on the right side) and superior laryngeal nerve is a major consideration in the anterior approach to the lower cervical spine. The sympathetic trunk is situated in close proximity to the medial border of the longus colli at the C6 level (the longus colli diverge laterally, whereas the sympathetic trunk converges medially). The damage leads to the development of Horner's syndrome with its associated ptosis, meiosis, and anhydrosis. Awareness of the regional anatomy of the sympathetic trunk may help in identifying and preserving this important structure while performing anterior cervical surgery or during exposure of the transverse foramen or uncovertebral joint at the lower cervical levels. Posterior Approach While anterior cervical discectomy or anterior corpectomy are excellent options for younger patients and those with inadequate cervical lordotic curve, dorsal procedures can often be used in patients with a well-maintained cervical lordotic curve. This can include patients with multilevel cervical spondylosis as well as those with OPLL. Cervical laminectomy and decompression can often be augmented by lateral mass fusion to correct instability or to prevent loss of future sagittal alignment. Laminoplasty is also offered as an alternative to lateral mass fusion. In patients undergoing posterior decompression surgery, there should be evidence of preoperative cervical lordosis of at least 10° and less than 7 mm of anterior-posterior OPLL for indirect decompression to be successful. The most significant advantage of a posterior approach is that it avoids the potential soft-tissue complications of the anterior approach. Furthermore, there is no risk of graft extrusion, but there is a decreased incidence of postoperative pseudarthrosis. It has additionally been proposed that OPLL is associated with a "dynamic myelopathy" in which the cervical spinal cord is progressively injured by repeated movement of the cord parenchyma over the ossified ventral mass. Arthrodesis and simple collar immobilization in these patients may serve to "stiffen" the cervical spine and decrease deleterious motion. Minimally invasive cervical disc replacement surgery Minimally invasive cervical disc replacement surgery entails inserting an artificial cervical disc between two cervical vertebrae after the inter- vertebral disc has been surgically removed in the process of decompressing the spinal cord or a nerve root. The intent of the device is to preserve motion at the disc space. It is an alternative to the use of bone grafts, plates and screws in pursuit of a fusion following procedures such a disc removal, which necessarily eliminates motion at the operated disc space in the neck. Cervical disc replacement surgery is most typically done for patients with cervical disc herniations that have not responded to non-surgical treatment options and are significantly affecting the individuals' quality of life and ability to function. The advantages of Minimally invasive cervical disc replacement surgery Maintaining normal neck motion Reducing degeneration of adjacent segments of the cervical spine Eliminating the need for a bone graft Early postoperative neck motion Faster return to normal activity Postoperative neck braces are not required for disc replacement operations.

Cervical Spine Surgery in India
Cervical Spine Surgery: Advanced Treatment for Neck and Spine Disorders Cervical spine surgery is performed to treat conditions affecting the neck (cervical spine) that cause chronic pain, numbness, weakness, or difficulty in movement. When non-surgical treatments such as medications, physiotherapy, and injections fail to provide relief, surgery may be recommended to relieve pressure on the spinal cord or nerves and restore spinal stability. India is one of the leading destinations for cervical spine surgery, offering internationally trained spine surgeons, advanced surgical technologies, robotic-assisted procedures, and affordable treatment costs. What is Cervical Spine Surgery? The cervical spine consists of the first seven vertebrae (C1–C7) that support the head and protect the spinal cord. Damage, degeneration, injury, or spinal disorders can compress nerves or the spinal cord, resulting in severe neck pain and neurological symptoms. Cervical spine surgery aims to: Relieve pressure on the spinal cord and nerves Reduce neck and arm pain Restore movement and function Stabilize the spine Improve quality of life Conditions Treated with Cervical Spine Surgery Cervical spine surgery is commonly recommended for patients with: Cervical Disc Herniation Cervical Degenerative Disc Disease Cervical Spinal Stenosis Cervical Spondylosis Cervical Myelopathy Cervical Radiculopathy Pinched Nerves Cervical Spine Fractures Neck Injuries Spinal Instability Cervical Deformities Cervical Spine Tumors Infections of the Cervical Spine Symptoms That May Require Cervical Spine Surgery You may need cervical spine surgery if you experience: Persistent neck pain Pain radiating to the shoulders or arms Numbness or tingling in the hands or fingers Weakness in the arms or hands Difficulty walking or maintaining balance Loss of coordination Difficulty holding objects Reduced neck mobility Severe headaches related to cervical spine disorders Loss of bladder or bowel control (in severe spinal cord compression) Types of Cervical Spine Surgery Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) The damaged cervical disc is removed through the front of the neck, relieving nerve compression. A bone graft or implant is inserted, and the vertebrae are fused together for stability. Best for: Herniated discs Cervical radiculopathy Degenerative disc disease Cervical Disc Replacement Instead of spinal fusion, the damaged disc is replaced with an artificial disc that preserves neck movement. Benefits: Maintains natural motion Faster recovery Reduced stress on adjacent spinal segments Posterior Cervical Laminectomy The surgeon removes part of the vertebral bone (lamina) to create more space for the spinal cord and nerves. Recommended for: Cervical spinal stenosis Myelopathy Multi-level compression Cervical Laminoplasty The spinal canal is enlarged without removing the entire lamina, preserving spinal stability while relieving nerve compression. Cervical Corpectomy One or more vertebral bodies are removed to relieve severe spinal cord compression, followed by reconstruction and stabilization. Cervical Fusion Surgery Two or more vertebrae are permanently joined together using bone grafts, plates, and screws to stabilize the spine. Minimally Invasive Cervical Spine Surgery Advanced techniques use small incisions, specialized instruments, and high-definition imaging for precise treatment. Advantages include: Smaller incisions Less blood loss Reduced pain Shorter hospital stay Faster recovery Lower infection risk Robotic-Assisted Cervical Spine Surgery Many leading hospitals in India now offer robotic-assisted spine surgery, providing exceptional precision and accuracy. Benefits include: Highly accurate implant placement Better surgical planning Minimal tissue damage Reduced complications Faster recovery Improved long-term outcomes Diagnosis Before Cervical Spine Surgery Your spine specialist may recommend: Physical examination Neurological assessment MRI Scan CT Scan Digital X-rays Electromyography (EMG) Nerve Conduction Studies Blood Tests Who is a Candidate for Cervical Spine Surgery? You may be a suitable candidate if: Conservative treatments have failed Severe neck pain limits daily activities Progressive nerve damage is present Muscle weakness is worsening Walking difficulties develop Spinal cord compression is diagnosed Cervical spine instability is confirmed Recovery After Cervical Spine Surgery Recovery depends on the type of surgery performed. Typical recovery timeline: Hospital stay: 1–5 days Walking: Within 24 hours (in most cases) Light activities: 2–6 weeks Return to work: 4–8 weeks Complete recovery: 3–12 months Physiotherapy and rehabilitation play an important role in restoring strength, flexibility, and mobility.

Indian hospitals have well trained English speaking Nurses, Physiotherapists and other supportive staff to provide compassionate care. Colon Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Rectal Cancer Treatment at World's Best Cancer Hospitals in India Colon cancer, also known as bowel cancer or colorectal cancer or cancer of the bowel, is the cancer of large intestine (lower part of the digestive system). Majority of colon cancer cases start as small and non-cancerous clumps of the cells known as adenomatous. After a certain period of time, these polyps become colon cancers. These are the third most commonly diagnosed cancers in world. They start as a small proliferated, ulcerated lesions or thickenings from the inner most layers of bowel lining. Left untreated they grow in size, extend through the wall to adjacent organs, involve nearby lymph nodes and at latter stages involve the liver and other distant organs, through blood stream, manifesting as different stages of disease progression. COLORACTAL CANCER SYMPTOMS Many cases of colon cancer have no symptoms. The following symptoms, however, may indicate colon cancer Pain and tenderness in lower abdomen Passing of Blood in the stool Constipation, Diarrhea or other changes in bowel habits like narrow stools. Abrupt Weight loss Diagnosis of Colon Tumor A number of tests are performed for diagnosing colon cancer that include Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) Assay CEA levels in the blood are measured in this test. The normal as well as cancer cells release CEA in the bloodstream. When these CEA is found in large amounts then it indicates colon cancer. Proctoscopy A proctoscope (a thin and tube-like instrument having light and lens for viewing) is inserted into the rectum in this rectum test. Sometimes removal of the tissue is also done by using a tool in order to check the presence of a disease by examining under a microscope. Physical Examination and History This is done for examining the general signs of health and also for seeing any indications of disease that may include lumps. Colonoscopy This test is performed for viewing the colon and rectum from within in order to see the presence of cancer, polyps or abnormal areas. Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) This is considered as a test of the rectum. The insertion of the gloved and lubricated finger is done into the lower part of the rectum for viewing the presence of lumps. Vagina is examined in case of women. Biopsy The signs of cancer are checked by removing tissues or cells that are then examined under a microscope. The removal of tissue at the time of biopsy is helpful in checking the gene mutation in a patient that is responsible for causing HNPCC. Certain other tests are also required for finding the cancer cells that have spread inside the rectum and colon or possibly to other body parts that include – Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) Assay , Chest x-ray ,Positron Emission Tomography Scan (PET) ,CT scan ,Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) ,Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) . Treatment Option Available for Colon Cancer at World's Best Cancer Hospitals in India Targeted Therapy Certain substances and drugs are used by the targeted therapy in order to target particular cancer cells without causing any harm to nearby normal cells. The two types of targeted therapy include Angiogenesis Inhibitors : This helps in stopping the growth of new blood vessels which tumors need to grow. Monoclonal Antibodies : These antibodies are prepared in the laboratory with the help of a single type of immune system. Certain substances can be identified by these antibodies that are on the cancer cells or it also indentifies certain normal substances that are helping in the growth of cancer cells. These antibodies then attach themselves with the substances for destroying cancer cells and also prevent them from spreading. Surgery Surgery is the mainstay of treatment and involves in block removal of diseased segment with adequate margins, surrounding tissue and lymph nodes. The names given to such resections are right hemicolectomy, transverse colectomy, left hemicolectomy, sigmoid colectomy, and subtotal colectomy Polypectomy : If the cancer is found in a polyp (a small piece of bulging tissue), the polyp is often removed during a colonoscopy. Local excision : If the cancer is found on the inside surface of the rectum and has not spread into the wall of the rectum, the cancer and a small amount of surrounding healthy tissue is removed. Resection : If the cancer has spread into the wall of the rectum, the section of the rectum with cancer and nearby healthy tissue is removed. Sometimes the tissue between the rectum and the abdominal wall is also removed. The lymph nodes near the rectum are removed and checked under a microscope for signs of cancer. Pelvic exenteration : If the cancer has spread to other organs near the rectum, the lower colon, rectum, and bladder are removed. Radiation therapy or chemotherapy may be given before surgery to shrink the tumor, make it easier to remove the cancer, and lessen problems with bowel control after surgery. Treatment given before surgery is called neoadjuvant therapy. Even if all the cancer that can be seen at the time of the operation is removed, some patients may be given radiation therapy or chemotherapy after surgery to kill any cancer cells that are left. Treatment given after the surgery, to lower the risk that the cancer will come back, is called adjuvant therapy. Chemotherapy Certain types of drugs are used for stopping the growth of cancer cells or for destroying the cancer cells. The injection of these drugs is done into a vein from where they enter the bloodstream and they then travel through the entire body. Radiation therapy High-energy beams are used for destroying cancer cells. Internal radiation and external radiation are the two types of radiation therapy. A radioactive substance that is sealed in catheters, needles wires or seeds is placed close to the cancer in the case of internal radiation. On the other hand, linear accelerators outside the body are used for sending radiation to the cancer in the case of external radiation. The type of radiation depends on the stage and type of the cancer.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty
What is Cosmetic Rhinoplasty? A Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a nose job, is the medical term used to describe cosmetic or aesthetic surgical reshaping of the nose to describe cosmetic or aesthetic surgical reshaping of the nose to achieve a more attractive physical appearance. Rhinoplasty surgical treatment may also contain correcting a hump, a dip, or refinement of the shape, function or dimension of the nasal tip. Your surgeon can make your nose smaller in an operation called a reduction Rhinoplasty, or larger in an augmentation rhinoplasty. They can change the size and shape of your nose, from the tip to the bridge, including your nostrils. Your surgeon can also change the angle between your nose and top lip. Who can and can not get the Rhinoplasty. By the time you’re around 16 (for girls) or 18 (for boys), your nose will have stopped growing and be fully developed, although there are exceptions. So, if you want an operation for cosmetic reasons, it’s best to hold off until at least then. Different procedures Closed rhinoplasty Open rhinoplasty Reduction rhinoplasty Reconstructive rhinoplasty Secondary rhinoplasty Hump reduction rhinoplasty Piezo/ultrasonic/diamond rhinoplasty Tip plasty Alar base reduction base rhinoplasty Saddle nose rhinoplasty Big nose rhinoplasty Deviated/ twisted nose rhinoplasty Septorhinoplasty Ethnic rhinoplasty Finesse rhinoplasty Filler/liquid rhinoplasty What Rhinoplasty involves Nose reshaping is usually carried out under general anaesthetic. Depending on the type of surgery you're having, the surgeon may: Make your nose smaller (nose reduction) – by removing some of the cartilage and bone Make your nose larger (nose augmentation) – by taking cartilage from the ears and bone from the hips, elbow or skull, and using it to build up the nose (known as a "graft") Change the shape of your nose (including the nostrils) – by breaking the nose bone and rearranging the cartilage Change the angle between the nose and top lip by breaking the nose bone and rearranging the cartilage

Neurology & Endovascular Neurosurgery in India Epilepsy surgery in India is a very good option for abroad patients seeking low cost and safe surgical treatment for the correction of their disorders. Medical tourism in India provides very good assistance to international patients for their comfortable treatment in India. Significant option for curing epileptics. For neurosurgery, patients must find surgeons who are appropriately trained. Another factor to consider is cost and reimbursement. Typical cost for epilepsy surgery can vary, and many insurance companies will only provide partial coverage, or even no coverage, since they still consider the surgery experimental. And finally, patients need to be aware that like any new medical technology, this surgery carries with it a certain level of unknown technical risks. Since epilepsy surgery it is still a relatively new procedure in India with a certain level of risks. The cost of Epilepsy surgery in India is very less compared to that of its cost in other developed countries. Most advanced surgery hospitals for Epilepsy surgery in India are in most prominent cities of India. Why should you choose to get Neurology & Endovascular Neurosurgery in India? Indian doctors are known all over the world for their skill and knowledge and have the experience of studying and working at the best neuron surgery hospitals in the world. Most advanced Technology Infrastructure - Blood Bank with 24 hour apharesis facility, advanced laboratory and microbiology (infection control) support, advanced cardiology, DSA and interventional radiology, portable and colour ultra-sonology, Liver Fibro-scan, 64 slice CT scanner, 3 T MRI, PET-CT and nephrology (including 24 hour dialysis and CVVHD). Neurosurgery Hospitals in India are equipped with the latest and high end technology. Cost of epilepsy surgery in India at best brain surgery hospitals in India is very low as compared to the cost at best hospitals in America or UK with the same level of care and services. Deep Brain Stimulation Deep Brain Stimulation, Parkinson Surgery, Tremor, Dystonia, OCD Treatment at World's Best Hospital in India Indian doctors with training in brain conditions (neurologists), brain surgeons (neurosurgeons), doctors with training in mental conditions (psychiatrists), pain specialists, specialized programming nurses and other specialists use an integrated team approach to treating people who have deep brain stimulation. Indian specialists have successfully used deep brain stimulation to treat hundreds of people who have essential tremor, Parkinson's disease and dystonia. Recently, doctors have used DBS to treat people who have cluster headaches, Tourette syndrome, epilepsy and chronic pain that hasn't responded to other treatment. Neuro specialists in India use computer-assisted brain surgery, intraoperative MRI and awake brain surgery during deep brain stimulation. Indian Neurologists are ranked among the Best surgeons for neurology and neurosurgery worldwide. Because the brain can shift slightly during surgery, there is the possibility that the electrodes can become displaced or dislodged. This may cause more profound complications such as personality changes, but electrode misplacement is relatively easy to identify using CT. After 2–4 weeks, there is a follow-up to remove sutures, turn on the neurostimulator and program it. What is Deep Brain Stimulation ? Deep brain stimulation surgery technique involves implanting electrodes inside the deep nuclei of brain called as subthalamus under local anesthesia. These electrodes are then connected to IPG (Pacemaker) implanted underneath the skin below the clavicle through the connecting leads under general anesthesia. To perform any kind of activity, the patient has to switch on the device with the help of a patient programmer. This stimulates the deep brain nuclei, which results in improvement of all the symptoms of Parkinson disease. With the progress of disease the parameters of stimulation are changed over a period of time so that patients can remain symptom free for long period. The patient himself can change the stimulation parameters with the help of patient programmer. Normally the life of the pacemaker is five years and after that a new pacemaker replaces it. The electrodes remain in position for life long.Rechargeble Pace makers are now available that can be recharged at home. The life of these pace makers are 15-20 years. The stimulation of subthalamic nucleus through this device leads to improvement in all the symptoms of advanced Parkinson disease. DBS uses a surgically implanted medical device, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, to deliver electrical stimulation to precisely targeted areas within the brain. Stimulation of these areas blocks the signals that cause the disabling motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease. The electrical stimulation can be noninvasively adjusted to maximize treatment benefits. As a result, many individuals may achieve greater control over their body movements. DBS System consists of three implanted components : Lead – A lead consists of four thin coiled insulated wires with four electrodes at the lead tip. The lead is implanted in the brain. Extension – An extension connects to the lead and is threaded under the skin from the head, down the neck and into the upper chest. Neurostimulator – The neurostimulator connects to the extension. This small, sealed device, similar to a cardiac pacemaker, contains a battery and electronics. The neurostimulator is usually implanted beneath the skin in the chest below the collarbone (depending on the patient, a surgeon may implant the neurostimulator in the abdomen). Sometimes called a "brain pacemaker," it produces the electrical pulses needed for stimulation. These electrical pulses are delivered through the extension and lead to the targeted areas in the brain. The pulses can be adjusted wirelessly to check or change the neurostimulator settings. The doctor may advise few antibiotics to prevent infection. The patient may need to visit the doctor several times after the surgery to adjust the stimulation with the help of programming. The doctor may prescribe a detailed medication plan to the patient. The patient should take some precautions after the surgery and follow the instructions given by the doctors. He/she should take care of the incisions and the surgical region on the head, by keeping it dry and covered. Heavy physical activities and lifting heavy weights should be avoided for few weeks after the surgery. Regular follow-up with the treating doctor should be done. Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery Advantage: In this surgery we do not injure the brain so it is relatively risk free. Completely reversible and programmable Parkinson medications are reduced which results in improvement of drug related side effects. There is improvement of quality of life in both off and on stage of the disease.

Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation by experts after the surgery help you regain functional abilities quickly helping in vastly improved overall results. Disc NucleoplastySurgery Nucleoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat back pain or leg pain caused by contained disc herniations. It works by decompressing the nucleus of the disc. Similar to letting air out of a tire, removing tissue from the center of a disc causes a reduction of pressure within the disc. This in turn leads to a reduction in the pressure that the disc applies to other parts of the body, such as nerve roots or the spinal cord. During the procedure, an instrument is introduced through a needle and placed into the center of the disc where a series of channels are created to remove tissue from the nucleus. As pressure is relieved, pain is reduced, consistent with the clinical results of earlier percutaneous discectomy procedures. There is little tissue trauma and recovery times may be improved in many patients. A herniated disc may occur suddenly in an event such as a fall or an accident, or may occur gradually with repetitive straining of the spine. Candidates for Disc Nucleoplasty You are a candidate for disc nucleoplasty if If you are suffering from chronic back pain, back fatigue and rest, medications, medical interventions like steroid injections and physical therapy has not been of help. If you suffer from disc herniation If you suffer from contained spinal disc herniation, i.e, pain radiating down the leg or arm accompanied by back pain not improving with medication and physical therapy. Inflammation and chronic pain, particularly in cases where the nerve roots are pinched or irritated. How does the Disc Nucleoplasty procedure work? Nucleoplasty requires the patient to lie on his/her stomach for the lumbar procedure or back for the cervical procedure. The procedure is performed under X-ray guidance to accurately place a needle into the disc. Sedation may be administered by your doctor. A small nick is made in the skin near the spine, and a needle is inserted. The decompression device, called a SpineWand, is then inserted through the needle into the disc and activated to remove tissue. The device and the needle are removed and the small nick is covered with a bandage. Benefits of Disc Nucleoplasty for herniated or slipped disc, chronic lower back pain, Sciatica Minimally Invasive, Scarless , Minimal Pain & discomfort to the patient Procedure time is less than an hour Minimal Tissue trauma and no risk of complications that may result from open surgery Minimal pain and discomfort to the patient. Quick recovery and Quick relief

Discectomy Surgery
Advanced Treatment for Herniated and Damaged Spinal Discs Discectomy surgery is a procedure performed to remove part of a damaged or herniated spinal disc that is pressing on nearby nerves. A herniated disc can cause significant pain, numbness, tingling, or muscle weakness, depending on the location of the affected nerve. Discectomy may be recommended when non-surgical treatments such as medication, physiotherapy, and other conservative approaches have not provided adequate relief, or when nerve compression requires surgical treatment. What Is Discectomy Surgery? The spine contains discs that act as cushions between the vertebrae. Sometimes, part of a spinal disc can become damaged or move outward, placing pressure on nearby nerves. A discectomy is performed to remove the portion of the disc responsible for nerve compression. The main goal is to relieve pressure on the affected nerve and improve symptoms associated with the disc problem. The exact surgical approach depends on the location of the affected disc and the patient's individual condition. Conditions That May Be Treated with Discectomy Discectomy surgery may be considered for certain patients with: Herniated disc Slipped disc Bulging disc causing nerve compression Lumbar disc herniation Cervical disc herniation Sciatica caused by a herniated lumbar disc Persistent nerve pain associated with disc problems Weakness or numbness caused by nerve compression A spine specialist will evaluate the patient's symptoms, medical history, and imaging results before recommending surgery. Types of Discectomy Surgery Lumbar Discectomy Lumbar discectomy is performed on the lower back to remove disc material that is compressing a spinal nerve. It is commonly considered for patients with lumbar disc herniation and sy mptoms affecting the legs. Cervical Discectomy Cervical discectomy is performed to remove damaged disc material in the neck region. The procedure may be recommended when a cervical disc is affecting nearby nerves or the spinal cord. Microdiscectomy Microdiscectomy is a surgical technique that uses specialized instruments and magnification to remove the portion of a herniated disc causing nerve compression. It is commonly used for selected patients with lumbar disc herniation. Minimally Invasive Discectomy Minimally invasive discectomy may be performed through smaller incisions using specialized surgical instruments and technology. Whether this technique is suitable depends on the patient's spinal condition and the surgeon's clinical assessment. When Is Discectomy Surgery Recommended? Discectomy may be considered when symptoms significantly affect daily life and appropriate non-surgical treatment has not provided sufficient improvement. Common symptoms may include: Persistent back or neck pain Pain radiating to the legs or arms Sciatica or nerve-related leg pain Numbness or tingling Muscle weakness Difficulty walking or performing daily activities The decision to undergo surgery should always be based on a detailed medical evaluation. Benefits of Discectomy Surgery Depending on the patient's diagnosis and condition, discectomy surgery may help: Relieve pressure on affected spinal nerves Reduce pain caused by nerve compression Improve mobility Reduce numbness or tingling Improve muscle function in selected patients Support a return to normal daily activities Treatment outcomes vary depending on the severity of the condition and individual patient factors. How Is Discectomy Surgery Performed? The general process may include the following steps: 1. Medical Evaluation The spine specialist reviews the patient's symptoms, medical history, and imaging scans. 2. Surgical Planning The appropriate surgical technique is selected based on the location and severity of the disc problem. 3. Removal of Damaged Disc Material The surgeon carefully removes the portion of the disc that is causing pressure on the nerve. 4. Recovery and Monitoring After surgery, the patient is monitored and provided with a personalized recovery plan. The exact procedure can vary depending on the type of discectomy being performed. Recovery After Discectomy Surgery Recovery varies depending on the surgical technique, location of the affected disc, and the patient's overall health. The recovery plan may include: Post-operative monitoring Pain management Early mobility guidance Physiotherapy when recommended Follow-up consultations Instructions for returning to daily activities Patients should carefully follow their surgeon's recommendations throughout the recovery period. Possible Risks and Considerations Like any surgical procedure, discectomy surgery may involve potential risks. These can vary depending on the patient's health and the type of procedure. A surgeon will discuss the potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and expected recovery before treatment.

Tennis Elbow, also known as lateral epicondylitis, is the most common treatment available for patients seeking surgical treatment for elbow joint pain. It is caused due to small tears of the ligaments that attach forearm muscles to the arm bone in the elbow joint. Elbow Arthritis Surgery - Also known as Elbow debridement, Elbow Arthritis Surgery is a type of surgery wherein arthritis causes significant loss of movement. During the surgery, a 10 centimeter incision is made on the back of the elbow. Thereafter, all the loose bodies and bone spurs that are hindering elbow movement are removed. A fenestration is then made at the end of the arm bone Arthroscopic Elbow Surgery - It is used to diagnose and treat conditions inside the joint. Open carpal tunnel release surgery , which allows the doctor to see more of the inner tissues, including the full width of the transverse carpal ligament where it is to be cut. Open surgery requires an incision in the palm and wrist, which disturbs more of the tissues in the hand, and requires a longer recovery period. It leaves a larger scar than does endoscopic surgery. But there may be less chance of other complications. See a picture of open carpal tunnel surgery. Endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery , which requires only a small incision at the wrist (single-portal technique) or at the wrist and palm (two-portal technique), and which disturbs less tissue in the hand. Recovery is quicker than with open surgery. And the scars heal more quickly, are smaller, and tend to be less painful at 3 months after surgery. There may be a slightly higher rate of reoperation after endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery. See a picture of endoscopic carpal tunnel surgery. Endovascular Neurosurgery at World's Best Hospital in India Neurosurgery is a branch of surgery that treats conditions and diseases of the brain and nervous system. Radiology is a medical specialty that helps diagnose and treat conditions and diseases using various radiology techniques. Endovascular neurosurgery is a subspecialty within neurosurgery that uses catheters and radiology to diagnose and treat various conditions and diseases of the central nervous system. The central nervous system is made up of the brain and the spinal cord. This medical specialty is also called Neurointerventional Surgery. Interventional neuroradiology is a subspecialty within radiology that also involves catheters and radiology to diagnose and treat neurological conditions and diseases. The term endovascular means “inside a blood vessel.” Endovascular neurosurgery uses tools that pass through the blood vessels to diagnose and treat diseases and conditions rather than using open surgery. The surgeon often uses radiology images to help him or her to see the part of the body involved in the procedure. Doctors in these specialties may also diagnose and treat conditions of the spinal cord using similar techniques, although not through a blood vessel. These types of procedures are called “minimally invasive” because they generally require only a tiny incision instead of a larger incision necessary for open surgery. Endovascular neurosurgery treats a variety of vascular diseases such as: Stroke Aneurysms Arterio-venous malformations IArterial stenosis Dural arterio-venous fistulas Vascular Tumours Carotid Cavernous sinus fistulae Cerebral revascularization after clotting Vasospastic arteries Neuro specialists in India use computer-assisted brain surgery, intraoperative MRI and awake brain surgery during deep brain stimulation. Endovascular Neurosurgical procedures in India : Thrombolytic therapy. This procedure uses “clot-busting” medication to dissolve a clot in a blood vessel in the brain or elsewhere in the body. Endovascular coiling. A surgeon inserts a very thin metal wire that forms a coil inside a brain aneurysm to block blood flow. A brain aneurysm is a bulging, weakened area in the wall of an artery in the brain, resulting in an abnormal widening or ballooning. Because the artery wall has a weakened spot, the aneurysm is at risk for bursting if blood flow isn’t blocked. Minimally invasive spine surgery. This procedure is used to treat spinal disorders such as fractures, tumors, compressed nerves, and other conditions that put pressure on the spinal cord. Cerebral angiography. This is a radiology procedure that looks at how well blood is flowing in the brain. Carotid artery angioplasty/stenting. This procedure uses a small balloon and/or a tiny metal scaffold called a stent to open a narrowed carotid artery. The carotid arteries supply blood to the brain. This is due to the reason that a person may have one seizure and never develops a second seizure. Medicines are successful in treating epilepsy. These medicines do not cure epilepsy, they prevent recurring of the seizures. These medicines changes the chemical or electrical transmissions in the brain in a particle way that decreases the chance of a seizure. Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) : VNS therapy is recommended when medicines are unable to control epilepsy. During the surgical procedure, an electrical device is implanted underneath the skin. The lead of this device is wrapped around one of the nerves on the neck’s left side. This nerve is called as vagus nerve. This device continuously passes an electric dose to the nerve in order to stimulate it. This process reduces the severity and frequency of the seizures. If a person is feeling a warning seizure symptom then extra stimulation is given for preventing recurrence of the seizure. Ketogenic Diet : This is also considered as one of the treatment for epilepsy. Ketogenic diet is recommended for children as it involves eating a diet which is low in proteins and carbohydrates and high in fats. The chemical balance of the brain can be altered that also reduces the chance of having seizures. Ketogenic diet is not meant for adults as the diet can result in any other serious medical condition like heart disease, high blood pressure or strokes.
